INTRODUCTION
Toyota Boshoku prides itself towards the protection of the environment however global environmental issues such as climate change, water scarcity, natural resource depletion, and the biodiversity crisis, have become increasingly widespread and more serious than when the Environmental Vision was drawn up. Therefore we have raised our 2030 CO2 reduction target from 38% to 50% and will accelerate our initiatives in order to achieve our objectives.
What is Carbon Neutral?
Carbon neutral means any Carbon released into the atmosphere from a company's activities is balanced by an equivalent amount being removed.
How TBSA aims to achieve carbon neutrality
Toyota Boshoku has developed 6 challenges aimed to reduce environmental impacts.
In line with TB materiality themes aiming for a sustainable society, the Toyota Boshoku Group is actively engaged in activities towards carbon neutrality, aiming to become a corporation that continues to be needed by society.
In 2021, we established a new target to reduce before 2030 our CO2 emissions by 50% compared to FY2013 base.
This target was set to accelerate carbon neutral activities. It is necessary to reduce life cycle CO2 emission from resource mining to production, driving and disposal process for realizing carbon neutrality.
To reduce CO2 emissions, we are promoting three measures:
- daily improvement energy-saving activities,
- planning and implementation of innovative technologies,
- use of renewable energy.
Programs include the following:
CO2 – Monitoring of energy usage, consumption and efficiency, kaizen activities and Renewable Energy such as implementation of Solar Panels.
In addition to the above, we have also implemented improvement plans for the following:
Waste - Waste separation, recycling and implementation of Waste Centre.
Water - Conservation of Waste, rainwater harvesting, awareness and training for employees.
